SEPTEMBER 15TH. THE TIME IS NOW 2:03 P.M. WE HAVE A QUORUM WITH ALL BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT THIS AFTERNOON.

THIS MEETING IS BEING RECORDED AS A REMINDER.

THE PURPOSE OF AGENDA REVIEW MEETING IS TO REVIEW ALL THE LISTED AGENDA ITEMS IN PREPARATION FOR THE REGULAR BOARD MEETING NEXT WEEK.

NO ACTION WILL BE TAKEN UNTIL THE REGULAR MEETING.

THIS IS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE BOARD TO ASK QUESTIONS AND REQUEST ADDITIONAL INFORMATION IF NEEDED. SO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES IS FULLY PREPARED FOR OUR REGULAR MEETING.

DRIPPING SPRINGS ELEMENTARY, TELL US ON TUESDAYS, OPENING THEIR CAMPUS UP IN A WITH SOCIAL MEDIA AND ALLOWING PEOPLE TO SEND IN COMMENTS FOR THEM TO DISCUSS, TO THINK ABOUT OF THINGS THAT ARE GOING ON CAMPUS.

LOVE THAT IDEA. WALNUT SPRINGS THE GOLDEN CLOCK AWARD WERE ALL ABOUT ATTENDANCE, SO THEY HAVE THIS GOLDEN CLOCK AWARD THAT THEY'RE GIVING OUT BECAUSE WE GET SO MUCH FUNDING FROM OUR DAILY ATTENDANCE. I LOVE THAT IDEA.

WILDWOOD HAVING THAT EMERGENT TREE BRAG BOARD AS THOSE KIDS WALK DOWN THE HALL AND GET TO SEE THEIR NAME ON A TREE, MAKES THEM FEEL GOOD. I JUST LOVE PROMOTING THAT POSITIVE, YOU KNOW, ENVIRONMENT.

DRIPPING SPRINGS MIDDLE SCHOOL. THIS WAS SO EXCITING FOR ME TO READ.

THEY ARE PROVIDING TRANSPORTATION FOR AFTER SCHOOL TUTORIALS.

I MEAN, THAT TAKES THE BURDEN OFF THE PARENT THAT HELPS THE STUDENT HAVE NO EXCUSE OF WHY THEY CAN'T STAY TO GET THE HELP.

BUT WHAT A WHAT A PLUS TO TAKE THOSE KIDS HOME AT THE END OF THAT TUTORIAL SESSION AND THE PARENTS CAN CONTINUE TO WORK.

SYCAMORE MIDDLE TRAINING EVERY MATH TEACHER IN THE FUZE PROGRAM.

I MEAN, THAT PROGRAM TO ME HAS BEEN VERY SUCCESSFUL AND THAT KELLY IS GOING TO REQUIRE ALL OF OUR MATH TEACHERS TO GO THROUGH THAT TRAINING.

I THINK IS GREAT, AND I LIKE OUR CHALK TALKS OVERALL ON ALL THE PLANS.

I LIKE THAT WE'RE ADDRESSING SUBPOPULATIONS, ATTENDANCE AND 5% ACADEMIC GROWTH.

IN ALL OF THOSE CORE SUBJECT AREAS. NOW, IN THOSE COLUMNS, IN THOSE REPORTS, THERE'S IT'S A REVIEW COLUMN AND THEY HAVE THE CHOICE TO CHECK NO PROGRESS ACCOMPLISHED, CONTINUE TO MODIFY OR DISCONTINUE.

IS THERE ANY WAY WE COULD SEE THE PROGRESS IN THOSE PLANS EITHER NOVEMBER OR MARCH? WE PUT IN EVIDENCE TOWARDS THAT GOAL OR THAT PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE, AND THEN THEY MOVE THIS LITTLE TOGGLE THAT SHOWS THE PROGRESS IN THE SEPTEMBER THOSE 4 AREAS. SO TYPICALLY WHEN WE HAVE THOSE, THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO BE POSTED TO THE WEBSITE BECAUSE THE BOARD IS APPROVING IN SEPTEMBER.

MOST OF THEM WERE NOTHING. NO FORMATIVE REVIEW YET, BUT THEY WILL BE I KNOW THEY'RE ALREADY PUTTING THINGS IN THERE.

SO AS SOON AS IT'S CONSIDERED AND APPROVED, THEN THEY WILL START ADDING THOSE PIECES OF EVIDENCE SO THAT IN PROBABLY EVEN OCTOBER YOU'LL START SEEING SOME OF THAT.

WHEN THERE'S CONFUSION, THE EASIEST, YOU KNOW, RESPONSE IS TO JUST REMOVE THINGS.

THE STRATEGIES CAN ADJUST AND CHANGE AS NEEDED.

SO IF A CAMPUS IS WALKING DOWN A STRATEGY THAT JUST ISN'T MEETING THE NEEDS, THEY CAN ADJUST.

THEY'LL NOTE IT AND YOU'LL SEE THAT IN THE FORMATIVE REVIEW AND THEY'LL ADD A DIFFERENT STRATEGY, BUT NONE IN THE IMPROVEMENT PLAN ITSELF. THERE ARE SOME IN THE COMPLIANCE THAT IS JUST OVERALL WELLNESS THAT WE HAVE TO, NOT THAT WE'RE CHANGING COMPLIANCE THINGS. WE JUST HAVE TO BE CAUTIOUS AND MAKE SURE WE HAVE CONSENT FROM A PARENT.

YEAH. I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SEE THE OVERALL KIND OF ENGAGEMENT, LIKE COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. ON HOW MANY PEOPLE DID WE EVEN HAVE APPLYING FOR THESE THINGS.

HAVE BEEN HAVE BEEN THERE'S BEEN A LOT OF THEM. AND THIS IS OBVIOUSLY ONE OF THEM. WOULD YOU MIND GOING JUST PROVIDING ME SOME CONTEXT ON I CAN READ HERE KIND OF LIKE WHAT ARE THE WHAT ARE THE DUTIES ARE BUT HOW THE DISTRICT PLANS TO IMPLEMENT THE SLACK COMMITTEE, UTILIZE THE SLACK COMMITTEE AND THOSE TYPES OF THINGS.

AND THEN TO WHAT EXTENT DOES THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES ENGAGE WITH THE SLACK COMMITTEE BASED UPON THE WAY THAT WE'RE GOING TO OPERATE THAT WOULD BE MY QUESTION.

THE SLACK IS GOING TO OPERATE VERY MUCH LIKE THE SHACK.

IT HAS TO BE POSTED 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE. WE HAVE TO RECORD AND WE HAVE TO POST ON OUR WEBSITE.

WHAT THEY'RE GOING TO BE DOING IS ANY TIME THAT A LIBRARIAN OR A FLY WOULD LIKE TO ORDER BOOKS, THOSE BOOKS OR A LIST WOULD BE CURATED AND REVIEWED BY THE SLACK, SO IT CAN BE RECOMMENDED TO THE BOARD FOR ACTION OR REMOVAL OF THOSE. SLACK DECIDES THEY DON'T WANT CERTAIN BOOKS.

SO YOU GUYS WOULD GET A LIST OF BOOKS FOR APPROVAL TO GET ORDERED.

AND IT WOULD BE ANY BOOKS THAT ARE NOT CURRENTLY IN OUR LIBRARY.

SO IT WOULD BE NEW NEW TO US BOOKS. THAT'S NOT RIGHT.

BUT THE OTHER THING THAT THEY WOULD DO IS ANYTIME BOOKS GET DONATED TO US, THEY WOULD HAVE TO PREVIEW THE LIST OF DONATED BOOKS AND THE POTENTIAL GRADE LEVELS.

AND JUST LIKE IF WE'RE PROCURING NEW BOOKS, IT WOULD GO THROUGH THAT SAME PROCESS WHERE THEY ARE GOING TO RECOMMEND TO THE BOARD EITHER TO APPROVE THESE DONATED BOOKS OR GIVE YOU A LIST. THAT IS WHAT THEY WOULD LIKE TO HAVE APPROVED.

I CAN FORESEE THAT BEING A LIST THAT WAS ORIGINAL.

AND THEN AFTER THEY MET THE LIST THAT THEY'RE RECOMMENDING, SO YOU CAN SEE WHAT THEY'RE ULTIMATELY TAKING, THEY WOULD LIKE YOU TO TAKE ACTION ON. SO THOSE ARE THE 2 BIGGEST THINGS.

AND SO WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE FOR US ORIGINALLY WE WERE THINKING, HOW MANY MEETINGS IS THAT? BECAUSE IT'S A SMALLER COMMITTEE.

BUT THAT'S A LOT OF BOOKS TO HAVE TO REVIEW. ORIGINALLY THE LIBRARIANS WANTED ONE MEETING A MONTH, AND I THOUGHT THAT WOULD BE TOO MUCH. SO WE REALLY NARROWED THAT DOWN AND WE LOOKED AT HOW OFTEN ARE WE ORDERING? AND RIGHT NOW IT'S EVERY MONTH, SOMETIMES BEFORE SENATE BILL 12.

SO REALLY GETTING STRATEGIC WITH OUR LIBRARIANS ON HOW TO BRING FORWARD BOOKS SO THAT IT CAN BE REVIEWED APPROPRIATELY BY THE COMMITTEE.

AND EVERYBODY UNDERSTANDS WHAT THEY'RE RECOMMENDING TO OUR BOARD AND UNDERSTAND WHY THEY POSSIBLY WOULD BE REMOVING A BOOK THAT A LIBRARIAN WOULD WANT TO PUT ON THE LIST, AND THEN BRINGING IT TO THE BOARD. SO WE'RE THINKING 4 MEETINGS, AND WE ALREADY HAVE THAT SCHEDULE LINED OUT.

AND THEN HOW OFTEN? BECAUSE WE DO HAVE TO POST ANY LIST 30 DAYS PRIOR TO BOARD TAKING ACTION AS WELL.

SO IT'S KIND OF THIS IS GOING TO BE A NEW PROCESS FOR US AND UNDERSTANDING THAT PROCESS.

ANOTHER PART OF THE SLACK WOULD BE ANY CHALLENGED BOOKS.

IN THE PAST, WE WOULD GET A GROUP TOGETHER AT THE PRINCIPAL'S DISCRETION OF WHO WOULD REVIEW THE BOOKS.

NOW, WE ALREADY HAVE A BUILT IN PROCESS WITH THE COMMITTEE TO DO ANY CHALLENGED RESOURCES THAT WE CAN BRING FORWARD.

THAT COMMITTEE WOULD REVIEW THE BOOK AND MAKE AN ULTIMATE RECOMMENDATION TO THE BOARD.

GOT IT. SO VERY MUCH LIKE THE SHACK ADVISORY COMMITTEE, WORKING VERY CLOSELY WITH THE DISTRICT AND THE LIBRARIANS ON FACILITATING ALL THE ELEMENTS OF SB 12 THAT ARE REQUIRED STATUTORILY FOR THIS.

SO WE'RE NOT DELEGATING ANY OF OUR AUTHORITY TO THIS. WE ARE SIMPLY BRINGING TOGETHER CITIZENS AND AND FACULTY MEMBERS, AS NOTED ON ON HERE, TO FACILITATE THAT PROCESS, TO BRING THOSE THINGS TO US.

YES, SIR. OKAY. AND NOW TENTATIVELY GOING TO MEET QUARTERLY, WHICH ALIGNS WITH THE SHACK.

WE THINK WE HAVE A GOOD NUMBER, BUT JUST MAKING SURE WE MIGHT GO THROUGH THE PROCESS IN THE FIRST ITERATION AND WANT TO CHANGE SOME THINGS, BECAUSE GETTING PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND JUST TITLES AND BOOKS, I DON'T KNOW IF YOU'VE EVER SEEN WITH THE LIBRARIANS, THERE'S JUST TITLES ON A BOOK PAGE, AND WE TALKED ABOUT THIS IN THE SUMMER.

AND I WILL JUST ADD ON THE APPLICATION FORM. THERE IS A QUESTION THAT SAYS BASICALLY WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND THAT'S RELEVANT TO THIS COMMITTEE.

SO THERE IS A FREE FORM. IT MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN THAT SPECIFIC QUESTION ABOUT TIMING, BUT THERE ARE 2 OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS ON THERE THAT PROBABLY NOT EXACTLY ALIGNED.

SO THIS THE INTERSECTION BETWEEN SLACK AND OUR FORMER OR CURRENT POLICY DURING IF A PARENT HAS AN OBJECTION WITH THAT REVIEW PROCESS, WE ARE CHANGING POLICY AND THAT SLACK IS NOW THE REVIEW PROCESS OF THAT BOOK.

OBJECTION ESSENTIALLY. SO INSTEAD OF POLICY. IT WOULD JUST CHANGE THE MEMBERS OF THAT RECONSIDERATION.

2 YEARS. I KNOW DOCTOR [INAUDIBLE] IS GOING TO BE LEADING SLACK BECAUSE IT ALIGNS TO INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS, AND SHE SUPPORTS INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS AS WELL.

AND SO THEY ONE OF THE FIRST MEETINGS IS CREATING BYLAWS.

AND WE'RE GOING TO ALIGN TO THE 2 YEAR TERM OKAY.
