WE ARE HERE TO DISCUSS THE 25-26 BUDGET AND THE PROPOSED TAX RATE. SO JUST A STEP BACK HOW WE GOT TO THIS POINT. WITH THE NOISE CALMED DOWN SOME. SO THIS PROCESS REALLY STARTED LAST DECEMBER, PROBABLY EVEN A LITTLE BIT BEFORE THAT, WHEN WE STARTED LOOKING AT WHAT OUR PROJECTED STUDENT ENROLLMENT WOULD BE FOR THE UPCOMING FISCAL YEAR. SO BACK IN DECEMBER, WE PRESENTED THE BOARD WITH A BUDGET CALENDAR AND THE ASSUMPTIONS THAT WOULD BE USED TO BUILD THE BUDGET. THE BOARD APPROVED THAT THOSE ASSUMPTIONS IN JANUARY, AND WE HELD A WORKSHOP IN JANUARY, GOING OVER THE RECOMMENDATIONS FROM THE BUDGET COLLABORATION COMMITTEE. THAT COMMITTEE FOCUSED ON HOW WE COULD CUT COSTS OR INCREASE REVENUES, AND SO THOSE RECOMMENDATIONS WERE BROUGHT IN JANUARY. THEN THERE WAS KIND OF A LULL AS WE WERE WAITING FOR CAMPUSES AND DEPARTMENTS TO SUBMIT THEIR BUDGET REQUEST, HELD A WORKSHOP IN APRIL, AND AFTER WE PUT ALL THOSE REQUESTS TOGETHER, WE REALIZED THAT THE DEFICIT GREW TO $6 MILLION. SO WE HAD A LOT OF CUTS TO MAKE. WENT THROUGH DEPARTMENT BUDGETS AND MADE CUTS, WENT THROUGH PAYROLL BUDGETS, MADE CHANGES THERE. ALSO IN APRIL, WE HAD A LEGISLATIVE UPDATE. WE KNOW THE LEGISLATURE WAS MEETING THIS SPRING, AND THAT WAS GOING TO BE A BIG INFLUENCE ON OUR BUDGET. HAD ANOTHER WORKSHOP IN MAY AND PRESENTED WHAT WE THOUGHT THE MOST LIKELY FINAL BUDGET WOULD BE ANOTHER LEGISLATIVE UPDATE. A LOT OF THINGS CHANGED FROM APRIL TO MAY, AND THEN AGAIN FROM MAY TO THE SESSION ACTUALLY ENDING ON JUNE 2ND, AND SO TONIGHT WE'RE HERE WITH THE PUBLIC MEETING. THE BOARD WILL ADOPT THE FINAL BUDGET AMENDMENT FOR THE 24-25 BUDGET AND THEN ADOPT THE BUDGET FOR 25-26, BUT THAT'S NOT ALL. THERE'S MORE TO COME. IN JULY, WE WILL RECEIVE OUR CERTIFIED VALUES FROM THE APPRAISAL DISTRICTS, AND THEN IN AUGUST, TEA WILL CERTIFY WHAT OUR MAXIMUM COMPRESSED TAX RATE CAN BE AND WILL GIVE US NOTICE TO PROCEED WITH ADOPTION OF THE TAX RATE. FOR THOSE REASONS, WE ADOPT THE TAX RATE IN SEPTEMBER, BUT THE BIG STORY WITH THIS BUDGET AND THE BIG THING STILL TO COME, [00:20:09] IS AMENDING THE DOCUMENT THAT WE ARE APPROVING THIS EVENING AND ADOPTING A NEW COMPENSATION PLAN. SO IT SEEMS A LITTLE WEIRD TO ADOPT A BUDGET JUST FOR ME TO TURN AROUND AND TELL YOU WE'RE GOING TO AMEND IT, BUT THAT'S AN IMPACT OF THE LEGISLATION THAT WAS PASSED. WE ARE STILL WORKING THROUGH THOSE NUMBERS, GETTING A FINAL REVENUE PICTURE AND THEN BEING ABLE TO AMEND OUR COMPENSATION PLAN. ONCE WE KNOW WHAT OUR REAL REVENUES WILL BE. SO IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE BUDGET THAT'S BEING APPROVED THIS EVENING IS BASED ON OLD LAW. IT DOES NOT INCORPORATE THESE CHANGES, AND SO IF EMPLOYEES ARE OUT THERE LOOKING FOR A COMPENSATION PLAN OR WHAT THE RAISE IS. STAY TUNED. THERE'S MORE TO COME, BUT THAT IS NOT HAPPENING THIS EVENING. SO AGAIN, ADOPTING THE TAX RATE IN SEPTEMBER, AND THEN IN ANY YEAR WE AMEND THE BUDGET AS IS NECESSARY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR. ALMOST EVERY MONTH THERE IS A BUDGET AMENDMENT, BUT THIS YEAR WILL BE A LITTLE BIT DIFFERENT, AND WE WILL HAVE A MAJOR AMENDMENT IN AUGUST. ALL RIGHT. SO THIS BUDGET AGAIN IS REALLY BEING IMPACTED BY THE LEGISLATION. SO LET'S TALK ABOUT WHAT THAT LOOKS LIKE. THE BASIC ALLOTMENT IS INCREASING BY $55. THIS IS THE FIRST INCREASE SINCE 2019 AND IT'S REALLY A SWAP OF FUNDS. THE GOLDEN PENNY YIELD TRADITIONALLY INCREASES EACH SESSION. THIS YEAR, THE LEGISLATURE CHOSE TO FREEZE THAT GOLDEN PENNY YIELD AND USE THE FUNDS THAT WOULD BE USED TO INCREASE THE YIELD, TO INCREASE THE BASIC ALLOTMENT. SO THAT'S REALLY A SWAP OF FUNDS. THERE IS A NEW ALLOTMENT CALLED THE ABC. IT'S FOR BASIC COSTS. THIS IS BASED ON ENROLLMENT, WHICH IS A CHANGE RATHER THAN AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE. THIS IS $106 PER ENROLLED STUDENT, AND THIS ALLOTMENT CAN BE USED FOR UTILITIES PROPERTY INSURANCE WHICH WE'RE APPROVING THIS EVENING. THE PAYROLL TAXES ON THE NEW SALARIES THAT ARE COMING DOWN THE PIPE AND OTHER EMPLOYEE BENEFITS. THERE IS ANOTHER NEW ALLOTMENT FOR AUXILIARY PAY. THIS IS $45, AND THIS IS BACK TO AVERAGE DAILY ATTENDANCE, AND THIS ALLOTMENT IS TO BE USED FOR SALARIES FOR SUPPORT STAFF. SO THAT INCLUDES COUNSELORS, NURSES, LIBRARIANS, OUR AUXILIARY EMPLOYEES ACROSS THE DISTRICT. IT COULD NOT BE USED FOR ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF AND THEN CHANGES TO THE SCHOOL SAFETY ALLOTMENT. SO THAT WENT UP TO $20 PER ADA FROM $15 AND 33,000 PER CAMPUS. SO THAT IS SOME ADDITIONAL FUNDING, AND THEN THERE'S BEEN AN OVERHAUL OF SPECIAL EDUCATION FUNDING, AND THOSE GUIDELINES ARE STILL BEING DEVELOPED, AND WE HAVE NOT SEEN THE DETAILS OF WHAT THOSE WEIGHTS WILL ACTUALLY BE, BUT THE IMPACT, THE BIGGEST IMPACT OF THE LEGISLATION IS TEACHER PAY INCREASES, AND SO THIS IS A TEACHER RETENTION ALLOTMENT, AND FOR THE DISTRICT, A DISTRICT OUR SIZE, WHAT THIS EQUATES TO IS $2,500 PER YEAR PER TEACHER WITH 3 OR 4 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND $5,000 PER TEACHER FOR FIVE OR MORE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE. SO THIS IS REPLACING THE 1% PAY RAISE THAT WE INITIALLY STARTED DEVELOPING THE BUDGET WITH. IF YOU LOOK AT OUR CURRENT PAY SCALE, THIS RESULTS IN ABOUT A 6 TO 8% INCREASE FOR TEACHERS, DEPENDING ON WHERE THEY WERE ON THE PAY SCALE, AND SO THIS IS WHAT WE'RE WORKING THROUGH THIS SUMMER TO BRING YOU AN AMENDMENT IN AUGUST. SO THE QUESTION THEN BECOMES, WELL, WHAT WE WHAT DO WE DO TO PROVIDE FOR OUR TEACHERS WITH ZERO, ONE AND TWO YEARS OF EXPERIENCE? HOW DO WE ALLOCATE THAT $45 ALLOTMENT? AND THEN WHAT KIND OF INCREASE DO WE GIVE TO OTHER POSITIONS. SO ADMINISTRATORS WERE COMPLETELY LEFT OUT OF ANY OF THESE ALLOTMENTS. IN AUGUST, TEACHERS RECEIVED THEIR FIRST NEW PAYCHECK IN SEPTEMBER. SO WE EXPECT TO HAVE ALL OF THIS WORKED OUT BEFORE TEACHERS RECEIVE THEIR PAYCHECKS. NOW, WE DO HAVE EMPLOYEES THAT TRADITIONALLY RECEIVE ANY PAY INCREASE IN JULY OR AUGUST. [00:25:03] THOSE EMPLOYEES WILL BE SEEING A RETROACTIVE PAYMENT BASED ON WHAT THE BOARD APPROVES IN AUGUST. SO FOR THIS EVENING, THE BUDGET ADOPTION, THE BOARD IS REQUIRED TO APPROVE THE BUDGETS FOR THE GENERAL OPERATING FUND, THE DEBT SERVICE FUND AND THE CHILD NUTRITION FUND. THE BOARD ALSO APPROVES THE BUDGET AT THE FUNCTIONAL LEVEL, AND SO THAT'S HOW YOU WILL SEE THE BUDGET PRESENTED IN THE BUDGET DOCUMENT THAT IS ATTACHED TO THAT AGENDA ITEM, AND THEN THE BOARD MUST APPROVE ANY AMENDMENTS THAT CHANGE THOSE AMOUNTS, AND SO THAT'S WHY WE WILL HAVE A MAJOR AMENDMENT IN AUGUST. SO MOVING TO THE GENERAL FUND BUDGET, WE'RE NOT GOING TO FOCUS ON THE DOLLARS A LOT BECAUSE WE KNOW THEY'RE GOING TO CHANGE BUT FOR WHAT IS UP FOR ADOPTION TONIGHT, THE BUDGET IS BUILT ON A PROJECTED STUDENT ENROLLMENT OF JUST UNDER 9,000 STUDENTS, 08,975. IN APRIL, WE RECEIVED OUR CERTIFIED ESTIMATES, AND THOSE REFLECTED 6.18% PROPERTY VALUE GROWTH FOR THE DISTRICT. WE DO EXPECT THAT MAY COME DOWN WHEN WE GET OUR CERTIFIED ESTIMATES IN JULY BECAUSE OF THE APPRAISAL REVIEW PROCESS. THE BUDGET THAT IS BEING ADOPTED TONIGHT, AGAIN, IS BASED ON LAW PRIOR TO THE 89TH LEGISLATIVE SESSION. SO THERE ARE NO NEW REVENUES IN THIS BUDGET AND NO GENERAL PAY INCREASE. WE WANTED TO AMEND WITH A CLEAN SLATE, AND SO RATHER THAN PUTTING IN A 1% JUST TO BACK THAT OUT AND PUT IN THE REAL RAISES. WE DID NOT DO THAT. SO THERE ARE NO PAY INCREASES IN THE BUDGET FOR ADOPTION THIS EVENING. AGAIN, THE PLAN IS TO AMEND IN AUGUST TO INCORPORATE THE $2,500 AND THE 5000 FOR TEACHERS, THAT OTHER AUXILIARY STAFF ALLOTMENT AND THE BASIC COST ALLOTMENT AND THE INCREASE TO THE BASIC ALLOTMENT. THIS BUDGET DOES INCLUDE THE OPENING OF ELEMENTARY NUMBER SIX, WILDWOOD SPRINGS ELEMENTARY, AND TO INCORPORATE ALL OF THOSE ADDITIONAL COSTS, WE AVOIDED ADDING POSITIONS THROUGH ATTRITION. WE'VE REALLOCATED POSITIONS TO ALIGN WITH STAFFING GUIDELINES AND REDISTRIBUTED FTES BASED ON THE NEW ATTENDANCE ZONES THAT GO INTO EFFECT NEXT SCHOOL YEAR. IT'S IMPORTANT TO NOTE THAT THE DISTRICT DOES HAVE A BOARD POLICY, C LOCAL, AND IT RESTRICTS THE ADOPTION OF A DEFICIT BUDGET THAT EXCEEDS 2% OF OUR ESTIMATED BUDGETED REVENUES. ONE TIME EXPENDITURES THAT ARE ACCOUNTED FOR AS CAPITAL ASSETS CAN BE EXCLUDED FROM THAT LIMITATION, AND SO FOR THE BUDGET FOR CONSIDERATION THIS EVENING, THERE ARE SOME FUND BALANCE DESIGNATIONS 51,000 FOR BAND INSTRUMENTS. THE ANNUAL PAYMENT ON THE TECHNOLOGY LEASE THAT WAS APPROVED THIS SPRING, AND THAT'S A THREE YEAR, 0% INTEREST LEASE FOR SOME TECHNOLOGY REFRESH, AND THEN IN ORDER TO GET TO THAT 2% PARAMETER, WE ARE ALLOCATING OR ASSIGNING OVER $1 MILLION OF FUND BALANCE FOR UTILITIES. THAT IS A TEMPORARY STOPGAP MEASURE. ONCE WE WORK THROUGH ALL OF THE 89TH LEGISLATIVE CHANGES, I SUSPECT THAT THIS AMOUNT WILL GO DOWN OR GO AWAY ALTOGETHER. SO LOOKING AT THE GENERAL FUND REVENUES, OUR FINAL BUDGET FOR 24-25 HAD TOTAL REVENUES OF JUST OVER $100 MILLION. THE REVENUES FOR 25-26 ARE JUST OVER $101 MILLION, FOR AN INCREASE OF JUST OVER 1 MILLION, BUT AGAIN, THAT IS ON OLD LAW, AND SO UNDER OLD LAW, YOU CAN SEE OUR LOCAL TAX COLLECTIONS GOING UP BASED ON THAT 6% INCREASE IN VALUES, WHICH MEANS OUR STATE AID GOES DOWN, AND SO REVENUES ARE REALLY FLAT AT $1 MILLION INCREASE. WHEN YOU LOOK AT OUR TOTAL GENERAL FUND REVENUES ARE NO DIFFERENT THAN YEARS PAST. THE MAJORITY OF OUR DISTRICT IS FUNDED ON LOCAL TAX COLLECTIONS. THIS IS BEFORE RECAPTURE. SO REMEMBER A BIG CHUNK OF THIS BLUE PIECE OF THE PIE IS SENT BACK TO THE STATE IN THE FORM OF RECAPTURE THE STATE FUNDING AT 11%? A PORTION OF THAT IS THE TRS ON BEHALF. SO IT'S REALLY JUST A FLOW THROUGH DOLLAR. THAT'S NOT REVENUES THAT ARE DISCRETIONARY FOR OUR SPENDING. WHEN WE LOOK AT EXPENDITURES YOU KNOW, WE'VE BEEN LOOKING AT THE 25- 26 BUDGET SINCE WE WORKED ON THE 24-25 BUDGET. WE KNEW THAT WE WERE FACING DEFICIT BUDGETS THAT WOULD EXCEED THAT 2%, AND SO THAT DROVE THE NEED TO FORM THAT BUDGET COLLABORATION COMMITTEE, WHO REALLY STUDIED ALL OF OUR EXPENDITURES, LOOKING FOR WAYS TO CUT COSTS. THERE WERE NO BIG RECOMMENDATIONS FOR CUTTING EXPENDITURES THAT CAME OUT OF THAT COMMITTEE, [00:30:01] AND SO OUR BIGGEST EXPENSE IS PAYROLL, AND SO WE'VE AVOIDED INCREASES THERE BY REDUCING STAFF THROUGH ATTRITION AND TRANSFERRING STAFF ACROSS CAMPUSES ACROSS THE DISTRICT. AGAIN, THIS BUDGET DOES PROVIDE FOR THE OPENING OF OUR SIXTH ELEMENTARY CAMPUS, AND THERE ARE NO SALARY INCREASES IN THIS BUDGET. FOR THIS EVENING. SO THE BUDGET OVERVIEW HERE. THAT 101 MILLION OF REVENUES, THE 2% PARAMETER WOULD ALLOW THE BOARD TO ADOPT A BUDGET OF. WITH A $2 MILLION DEFICIT. IF YOU LOOK AT OUR OPERATING EXPENDITURES THERE AT 94 MILLION TODAY, RECAPTURE IS AT 9.8. AGAIN, THAT'S OLD LAW. SO AGAIN, LOOKING AT THIS, WHAT YOU WILL SEE FOR ADOPTION THIS EVENING IS A TOTAL NET CHANGE TO FUND BALANCE OF JUST UNDER 3 MILLION, AND IT GOES FROM THE $3,068,000 DEFICIT TO 2.8 BECAUSE OF TRANSFERS IN AND TRANSFERS OUT BETWEEN OTHER FUNDS IN THE DISTRICT. SO WHAT YOU SEE IN THE OFFICIAL BUDGET DOCUMENT IS A NET CHANGE TO FUND BALANCE OF A DEFICIT OF JUST UNDER 2.9 MILLION. THIS IS HOW THE EXPENDITURES ARE ALLOCATED CURRENTLY. AGAIN, VERY MUCH LIKE LAST YEAR'S PAYROLL IS 83% OF THE BUDGET, AND SO THAT'S WHY WE'RE SAYING WHEN WE REDUCE BUDGET IS REALLY THROUGH STAFFING CHANGES THAT HAVE BEEN MADE, THE NEXT BIGGEST AREA IS CONTRACTED SERVICES. THIS WOULD BE EVERYTHING FROM SOFTWARE AGREEMENTS TO LEGAL TO ACCOUNTING, AND THEN YOU CAN SEE HOW THE OTHER CATEGORIES FALL. THIS CHART EXCLUDES RECAPTURES SO THAT IT DOESN'T DISTORT THE EXPENDITURE PICTURE, AND THEN LOOKING BY FUNCTION. AGAIN, NOT REALLY FOCUSING ON THE NUMBERS BECAUSE WE KNOW THEY'RE GOING TO CHANGE THE DEBT SERVICE BUDGET AND THE CHILD NUTRITION BUDGET OR THE OTHER FUNDS. THE BOARD IS REQUIRED TO ADOPT THE DEBT SERVICE BUDGET AS WELL WILL BE AMENDED. WE ARE ISSUING BONDS ON THE REMAINING 23 AUTHORIZATION AND THE 25 AUTHORIZATION NEXT MONTH, AND SO THAT WILL REQUIRE AN AMENDMENT TO THAT FUND TO INCORPORATE THE PAYMENT ASSOCIATED WITH THAT NEW ISSUE AND THEN THE CHILD NUTRITION BUDGET. SO THESE PROPERTY TAX COLLECTIONS ARE BASED ON THE 100,000 HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION. SO THIS TOO WILL CHANGE WITH THE INCREASE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION THAT WE ANTICIPATE PASSING IN NOVEMBER. SO THAT REVENUE NUMBER WOULD CHANGE. WE CURRENTLY HAVE PRINCIPAL AND INTEREST PAYMENTS OF 18 MILLION. AGAIN, THAT WILL CHANGE BASED ON THE UPCOMING ISSUANCE, AND SO THAT WILL BE NEEDED TO BE AMENDED, AND SO THAT DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REVENUES AND EXPENDITURES IS REVENUES THAT ARE AVAILABLE FOR DEFEASANCE. I THINK I SAW YOU SAVE THE LAST NAME BECAUSE HE'S HEADED TO AUBURN. THEN OUR 18 PLUS GRADUATION. I KNOW OLIVIA WAS THERE, ALONG WITH KIM AND MARY JANE. OLIVIA, I WOULD JUST SAY, OBVIOUSLY WE'RE ALL VERY, VERY PASSIONATE ABOUT OUR 18 PLUS PROGRAMING AND OVER THE YEARS. THIS IS MY THIRD OR FOURTH YEAR, I THINK, TO ATTEND THE GRADUATION, AND I'VE GOTTEN TO KNOW THESE FAMILIES VERY WELL, AND THEY JUST HAVE THE BIGGEST HEARTS, AND THEY'RE ALWAYS OPEN TO SHARE THEIR STORIES. SO IT FELT GOOD THIS TIME TO KNOW THE TO KNOW OUR FUTURE FOR 18 PLUS LOOKS VERY BRIGHT. WE'VE GOT SOME BIG, BIG PLANS FOR THOSE COMMUNITIES, BUT WE HAD LIVE MUSIC, WE HAD REALLY GOOD FOOD AND JUST AN ABSOLUTELY, INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL SPEECH, AND IT WAS IT WAS GREAT. FAMILIES WERE VERY EXCITED. YEAH, AND JUST A SHOUT OUT TO THE BUSINESSES IN DRIPPING SPRINGS THAT ARE WORKING WITH EACH ONE OF THESE STUDENTS IN THE PROGRAM AND GIVING THEM AN OPPORTUNITY FOR EMPLOYMENT AND JUST TALKING WITH THEIR PARENTS ABOUT WHAT THEIR NEXT STEP IS GOING TO BE, AND SOME ARE GOING TO MOVE OUT OF TOWN AND GO INTO A NEW CITY, AND THOSE KIDS ARE NOT NERVOUS AT ALL. THEY'RE LIKE, I'M GOING TO GO TO THAT NEW TOWN. I'M GOING TO LAND THAT JOB, AND JUST THE CONFIDENCE AND YOU KNOW, AND THESE STUDENTS, BUT JUST A GREAT PROGRAM TO WITNESS, BUT IT WOULDN'T BE POSSIBLE WITHOUT OUR COMMUNITY. I WAS JUST ALSO GOING TO THANK OUR LOCAL BUSINESSES BECAUSE THEY GOT A SHOUT OUT FROM THE PARENTS AND FROM RANDY. AWESOME, AND THEN LAST WAS OUR HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION. THIS WAS THE FIRST YEAR I ACTUALLY GOT TO SHAKE ALL THE HANDS OF THE GRADUATES, AND WHEN YOU'RE UP THERE SHAKING HANDS, IT JUST PUTS INTO MAGNITUDE HOW BIG OUR HIGH SCHOOL HAS GOTTEN. SO EVEN MORE THRILLED. WE WILL HAVE A SECOND HIGH SCHOOL AND IT WILL PROBABLY BE EQUAL GRADUATION CLASSES BY THE TIME MY KIDS ARE GRADUATING, BUT IT'S JUST SO SPECIAL. I'M JUST HUMBLED. OUR GRADUATES ARE AMAZING. I MEAN, YOU SEE, IN OUR RECOGNITIONS EVERY MONTH FOR OUR STUDENTS, THEY'RE JUST DOING INCREDIBLE THINGS, AND I KNOW PEOPLE SAY THAT PROBABLY ABOUT EVERY HIGH SCHOOL, BUT REALLY, I THINK DRIPPING SPRINGS IS, [00:45:05] IS INCREDIBLY SPECIAL GROUP OF STUDENTS, AND YEAH, ANYBODY ELSE? I ESPECIALLY LOVE THAT WE GET FIREWORKS EVERY YEAR. BY THE WAY, WHAT HIGH SCHOOL DOES THAT IS SO SPECIAL. SO WHEN WE TALK ABOUT MOVING SITES AND THE THOUGHT OF LOSING THE FIREWORKS IS USUALLY IS USUALLY A CON, I WE JUST LEAVE IT OUTSIDE. SO EVERY YEAR, YOU KNOW, WE PRAY THAT THE RAIN GODS KIND OF HOLD OFF, AND THIS YEAR THEY DID. WE DIDN'T HAVE TO MOVE IT. SO IT WAS ACTUALLY A VERY BEAUTIFUL NIGHT THIS NIGHT, SO VERY SPECIAL, AND THEN WE HAD OUR SUMMER LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE, AND I WILL GO DOWN THE LINE. I'LL START WITH TRICIA. WELL, THIS SUMMER, LEADERSHIP OBVIOUSLY HAD A LOT TO DO WITH THE LEGISLATURE AND WHAT HAPPENED, AND SO IT WAS REALLY GOOD TO HEAR OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN, NOBODY REALLY KNOWS WHAT'S GOING ON. SO BUT JUST TO HEAR THE DIFFERENT VOICES AND LISTEN TO THE LAST SESSION WITH TASB KIND OF GOING THROUGH, ROLLING THROUGH THE MANY, MANY, MANY CHANGES THAT WE'RE GOING TO SEE COME HERE IN A COUPLE OF MONTHS. WITHIN THE NEXT COUPLE OF MONTHS, I WAS ALSO ABLE TO SIT IN TO THE TEACHER INCENTIVE ALLOTMENT ONE DISTRICT THAT WAS VERY EXCITED ABOUT IT AND GETTING THEIR TEACHERS INVOLVED AND EXCITED ABOUT IT, AND WITH THE NEW FUNDING COMING IN WITH THAT PARTICULAR PROGRAM IT REALLY I REALLY WANTED TO KNOW EXACTLY WHAT IT LOOKED LIKE. SO THAT WAS A HIGHLIGHT, I THINK, FROM THE WEEKEND, AND OBVIOUSLY HANGING OUT WITH MY FELLOW TEAM MEMBERS IS ALWAYS FUN TO DO, BUT. I KIND OF FEEL LIKE WE SHOULD HAVE TOUCHED BASE AHEAD OF TIME TO SEE WHO IT WAS WE WANTED TO TALK ON. WHAT? RECOGNIZING THEM AT SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS, HOW THEY GET A PLAN WHEN THEY GO TO THE CAPITOL, AND HOW THEY'RE GOING TO WORK WITH THESE PEOPLE TO GET SUPPORT THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, EVEN IN A NON LEGISLATIVE YEAR. SO I LEARNED A LOT FROM THAT SESSION, BUT THOSE TWO WERE WERE A LOT OF FUN FOR ME. OH AND DINNER WAS GREAT. YEAH I WE WERE IN THE BOERNE ISD ONE AND A FEW OF US WERE ALSO IN THE SPECIAL EDUCATION ONE. I WILL SAY I FEEL LIKE AS A BOARD WE HAVE IMPROVED OUR ORGANIZATION OF ADVOCACY. WE'VE ALL, YOU KNOW, I THINK PROBABLY SINCE THIS BOARD IS EVER FOUNDED, THERE'S ALWAYS INDIVIDUAL ADVOCATES, BUT I FEEL LIKE ESPECIALLY WITH OUR SUBCOMMITTEE LAST YEAR, LIKE GETTING A LITTLE MORE ORGANIZED TALKING POINTS, ORGANIZED VISITS TOGETHER, BUT I MASSIVE PLUG TO BERNIE ISD. THEY TAKE IT A LEVEL UP, AND ONE THING IN PARTICULAR THAT I DON'T KNOW HOW WE WOULD IMPLEMENT IT, BUT IT WAS I PARTICULARLY LOVED THAT THEY INCLUDE STUDENTS INTO THIS. THEY ALMOST GET LIKE A BOARD TERM. NOT THAT THEY'RE PAIRED WITH AN INDIVIDUAL TRUSTEE, BUT THERE'S WHAT DID THEY SAY, LIKE 18 OR 20 OF THEM, THAT THEY HAVE A PRACTICUM AND YOU CAN BE ON IT FOR A YEAR UP TO THREE YEARS.
