REGISTRATION FOR A FULL DAY DISD CAMP VENTURE OR ADVENTURE CAMP OPENED TODAY, MARCH 31ST AT 10 A.M.

SPACE IS LIMITED AND SPOTS FILL UP QUICKLY ON THESE CAMPS, SO WE ENCOURAGE OUR COMMUNITY TO REGISTER EARLY.

HE'S A HE'S A JUNIOR. HE WAS 25 AND 15 THIS YEAR.

SHE WAS ALSO A STATE CHAMP [APPLAUSE]. YEAH. SHE'S OUR FIRST GIRL TO EVER EVEN PLACE AT THE STATE TOURNAMENT. SO A PRETTY GOOD WAY TO DO IT [APPLAUSE].

YEAH. AFTER ONE YEAR, SHE'S ALREADY IN THE TOP TEN IN ALL THE CAREER CATEGORIES THAT WE KEEP STATS FOR.

SHE'S WON SEVEN TOURNAMENTS THIS YEAR, WHICH IS TIED FOR THE MOST FOR A CAREER.

PRETTY IMPRESSIVE. AND SHE LED THE GIRLS TEAM TO THEIR SECOND EVER DISTRICT TITLE AND PLACED 20TH AT THE STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. SINGLE HANDEDLY BEATING LIKE 70 PLUS TEAMS THAT QUALIFIED, SO [APPLAUSE].

THESE ARE FIVE OF OUR STUDENTS THAT WERE ABLE TO BE HERE THIS EVENING, WHO ARE STATE QUALIFIERS FOR SOLO AND ENSEMBLE COMPETITION.

SO JUST A LITTLE BIT OF CONTEXT AND BACKGROUND AS TO WHAT THAT INVOLVES.

EACH OF THESE STUDENTS AND THEIR PEERS. HAD TO LEARN A PIECE OF MUSIC, EITHER AS A SOLO OR AS A SMALL ENSEMBLE, HAD TO MEMORIZE IT, AND THEN HAD TO PERFORM IT IN FRONT OF ONE JUDGE WHO SITS THERE IN A CLASSROOM AND STARES RIGHT AT THEM WHILE THEY PERFORM.

SO IT'S A VERY SMALL ENVIRONMENT AND IT'S VERY NERVE WRACKING.

THESE STUDENTS EARNED THE HIGHEST SCORE POSSIBLE, WHICH IS CONSIDERED A ONE OR A SUPERIOR RATING EITHER ON THEIR ENSEMBLE OR ON THEIR SOLO.

AND THEY ARE NOW HEADED TO THE STATE LEVEL, WHICH WILL TAKE PLACE IN MAY ON MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND.

OUR EVENT IS HELD IN PFLUGERVILLE ISD. BUT THESE STUDENTS WILL COMPETE ON AN EVEN HIGHER LEVEL AND THEY'LL DO THE SAME PIECE, OR THEY HAVE AN OPTION OF CHANGING THEIR PIECE.

SO SOME OF THEM HAVE CHOSEN TO LEARN AN EVEN MORE DIFFICULT PIECE AND DO THE PROCESS OVER AGAIN.

BUT THEY'LL PERFORM THIS TIME FOR A COLLEGIATE LEVEL JUDGE.

SO THE COMPETITION BRINGS IN JUDGES FROM ALL OVER THE STATE AND EVEN SOME JUST OUTSIDE OF THE STATE TO JUDGE FROM A COLLEGIATE MUSIC PROGRAM. SO WISH THESE STUDENTS LUCK. I'M GOING TO LET THEM INTRODUCE THEMSELVES.

AND FOR BAND, IN ORDER TO QUALIFY FOR STATE, YOU HAVE TO PLAY A CLASS ONE SOLO FROM MEMORY AND RECEIVE THE HIGHEST RATING OF SUPERIOR. AND SO SOME OF THESE, THE COLUMN ON THE RIGHT ARE ALL SOLOISTS THAT ACHIEVE THAT.

AND THEN THE OTHERS ARE PART OF A, AN ENSEMBLE THAT ALSO HAD TO PLAY A CLASS ONE LEVEL PIECE OF MUSIC AND RECEIVE A ONE. IT DID NOT HAVE TO BE MEMORIZED. BUT THE SOLOS DO HAVE TO BE MEMORIZED.

THERE IS A LIST CALLED THE NO MEMORY REQUIRED LIST, WHICH IS LIKE REALLY LONG OR SUPER DIFFICULT STUFF THAT YOU ARE ALLOWED TO USE MUSIC AND STILL QUALIFY AND I THINK KASH, THAT WAS YOU? YEAH. HE PLAYED ONE OF THOSE ON TENOR SAXOPHONE.

WE HAVE ALREADY HAD OUR STATE COMPETITION AND THESE STUDENTS, AMONG OTHERS, COMPETED AGAINST ABOUT 2500 IN OUR DISTRICT TO MAKE IT TO STATE.

AND AT STATE WE HAD ABOUT 6500 KIDS WE WENT AGAINST.

AND WE WILL BE TAKING AUDREY AND JACK AND FAITH FROM THIS GROUP TO ICDC IN APRIL.

AND JACK ACTUALLY HAS NOT EVEN COMPETED YET. HE WROTE A 50 PAGE PRESENTATION PAPER FOR OUR SCHOOL BASED ENTERPRISE, THE TIGER SHACK, ON ALL THE CHANGES THAT WE MADE THIS YEAR, ALL THE HEALTH CONSCIOUS DECISIONS WE MADE TO MAKE SURE WE'RE PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH GREAT THINGS AND FUN THINGS. SO HE WILL ACTUALLY BE COMPETING FOR THE FIRST TIME IN APRIL.

AND I'M JUST SO PROUD OF THEM. THEY WORK SO HARD.

THESE VICE PRESIDENTS ALL DID GREAT WITHIN THEIR DIFFERENT DIVISIONS AND COULD NOT BE MORE PROUD.

SO ONE OF THE EVEN THOUGH IT'S A CHALLENGE, IT'S ONE OF THE MOST REWARDING PARTS IS JUST TO MAKE SURE THAT EVERY SINGLE DAY THAT WE'RE COLLABORATING AS YOU GUYS WERE COLLABORATING WITH OUR COMMUNITY, WITH OUR TEACHERS, PRINCIPALS AND ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF TO MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE WHAT YOU NEED IN THE CLASSROOMS IN SAFETY, SECURITY, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE. AND JUST MAKING SURE WITH EVERYTHING ELSE THAT GOES ON THAT YOUR EDUCATION EVERY SINGLE DAY IS THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY.

SO THAT'S THE HARD WORK PART, BUT IT'S ALSO THE MOST REWARDING PART.

IT TURNED OUT OKAY. I'M NOT TOO BAD AT IT, BUT I WAS EXTREMELY IMPRESSED WITH US TRYING TO FIND WAYS TO INCREASE THE ENGAGEMENT OF OUR MIDDLE SCHOOLERS IN LEARNING MATHEMATICS. BECAUSE IT'S TRAILING BEHIND, READING SUBSTANTIALLY.

SO SWEPT ALL OF THOSE, MOVED IT TO THAT CONTINGENCY PROJECT SAVINGS LINE, AND THEN REALLOCATED TO THE TECHNOLOGY LINE ITEM FOR THE TECHNOLOGY REFRESH THAT WAS APPROVED, I BELIEVE, LAST MONTH.

SO I DON'T REMEMBER. THERE WILL BE AN AMOUNT LEFT IN THAT PROJECT SAVINGS LINE A SMALL AMOUNT.

AND THEN AFTER YOU APPROVE THE TECHNOLOGY REFRESH, WE GOT SOME ADDITIONAL PRICING.

IT WENT DOWN A LITTLE BIT. SO ONCE ALL OF THOSE DEVICES ARE ORDERED AND PAID FOR, THERE WILL BE A REMAINING AMOUNT THERE.

IT WILL BE MOVED TO THAT CONTINGENCY. PLUS WE HAVE THE 4 MILLION FOR LAND THAT'S NOT BEING SPENT.

INTRUDER DETECTION AUDITS TEST WHETHER A CAMPUS IS ACCESSIBLE TO AN UNAUTHORIZED INDIVIDUAL.

THIS AUDIT, CONDUCTED AS PART OF THE STATE'S SCHOOL SAFETY DIRECTIVES FOLLOWING THE TRAGEDY IN UVALDE, SEEKS TO HELP DISTRICTS IDENTIFY HOW THEY CAN IMPROVE SAFETY FOR STUDENTS, SUCH AS ENSURING EXTERIOR DOORS ARE LOCKED AND DOOR CHECKS ARE LOGGED.

SPECIFIC DETAILS OF THE FINDINGS WILL BE SHARED IN THE EXECUTIVE SESSION WITH THE BOARD AND THE DISTRICT SAFETY AND SECURITY COMMITTEE ON APRIL 9TH, 2025. THESE AUDITS PROVIDE US WITH AN OPPORTUNITY TO CREATE A SAFER LEARNING ENVIRONMENT FOR OUR STUDENTS AND STAFF.
